THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW JERSEY RUTGERS NEWARK March 13, 1997 ABA Citation Resolution Suite 4-512 Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts Washington, D.C. 20544 This is a comment on adoption of the ABA endorsed citation format. Without question, a format owned by the public and in the public domain is better than a proprietary set of citations. Costs will be less to all concerned. There will uniformity. Further, the ABA citations are useful in electronic format. The current proprietary citations are not logical in the electronic format. They result in delay in the production of a citation. If the ABA format is adopted, opinions can be released with citations affixed. Sincerely, Charles Davenport Professor of Law and Arthur L. Dickson Scholar
