And, apart from copywright law arguments, it is argued that this is important to making decisions and the like available. People in the US should have a look at Australia's AustLII sit -- the Australasian Legal Information Institute. http://www.austlii.edu.au There, magically, available free on the web, are the bulk of Australia's statutes and legislation, plus all cases from our Supreme Court equivalent, the High Court, and a large number of other courts. This site is relatively new, and the organisers (the Institute is a joint venture of faculties of law at two Sydney universities) expect to have all Australia's current case law on line in the near future.
